Accelerated Reader and Reading Counts!

If your library participates in the Accelerated Reader or Reading Counts! program, you can search for items that interest you and earn you points.

  1. On the Library Search page, select your reading program from the Reading Programs drop-down.
  2. Next to AR Level or RC Level, enter your reading level in the From and to fields.
If you want to find books that may be a little harder to read, enter a number that is 1 or 2 higher in the to field.
If you are not sure what your reading level is, enter your grade in the first field. For example, 3 for third grade or 4 for fourth grade. Then, enter the next grade up in the second field.
    • If you do not enter any level, you will get books for all reading levels.
    • If you leave the From field blank or 0.0 and enter your reading level in the to field, you will get all the books from 0 up to your reading level.
    • If you enter your reading level in the From field and leave the to field at 20.0, you will get all the books from your level up to level 20.
  3. Next to Point Value, enter a point value range.
    • If you leave the fields at 0.0 and 130.0, you will get books with any point value.
    • If you leave the From field at 0.0 and enter a point value in the to field, you will get all the books worth from 0 points up to what you entered.
    • If you enter a point value in the From field and leave the to field at 130.0, you will get all the books with point values from your number up to the maximum.
  4. If you want to find a book by keyword, about a particular subject, or by a certain author, enter the information in the Find field.
  5. Click a search button:
If you did not enter anything in the Find field, or you entered a keyword, click Keyword.
If you entered a title word in the Find field, click Title.
If you entered an author's name in the Find field, click Author.
If you entered a subject word in the Find field, click Subject.

  3. If you would like to find books that have a particular Lexile Code, choose the code from the list.
You can search for books that match a measure (or range of measures), or a code, or both.
  4. If you want to find a book by keyword, about a particular subject, or by a certain author, enter the word in the Find field.
  5. Click a search button:

Example: If you want to find a book within a Lexile measure range of 700 to 800 written by Beverly Cleary, enter 700 in the From field, 800 in the to field, and cleary in the Find field. Then, click Author.

Note: If you enter a Lexile measure of BR100, a Range is automatically calculated 100 points from its low end (BR200) and 50 points from its high end (BR50). The Lexile Reading Program Service shows the most current Lexile measure/value from MetaMetrics for any title in Search Results or Title Details.
